This wooden cross, entirely carved by hand, is the handiwork of the monk Father Galaktion of Saint Dimitrios' Cell* in Kapsala, Mount Athos, Greece.

The cross is made of boxwood, a type of wood with a smooth texture, ideal for carving as it holds crisp and fine details. Boxwood has a yellowish color but acquires an elegant darker patina over time.

Hold the cross in your hand as a praying tool, or wear it as a necklace (a black satin cord is included).

Wood tone and wood grain, carving details and dimensions may vary as this is a handmade product.

*The ascetic Cell of Saint Dimitrios belonged previously to Father Irodion of Kapsala, the Holy Fool (1904-1990).

This item was meticulously handcrafted by monks in Mount Athos. While crafting each one, the monks are simultaneously engaged in prayer and concentration, making these items a true blessing! With the purchase of this item, you are also supporting the monastic communities of Mount Athos, Greece.

Sweet smell does come from the Center of the Cross but only after putting it on!

I opened this gift from my mother and I tried to smell it when I opened it but it had no smell at first until I put it on. Then I smelled it and it was unmistakable. The smell is of frankincense and maybe myrrh and the more I worship the stronger the smell coming off of the cross becomes. This is an extraordinary item and I recommend it to anyone who is undergoing a spiritual battle or trial of some kind or another. Too me, it is a faith indicator and I can smell the frankincense even stronger when I worship and feel the Holy Spirit. Thank you for this cross. I bought the medium size; the small size of the cross was sold out. God bless all of you!

Beautiful cross. Very special item. Lots of attention to detail in the carving. For everyday wear i would recommend the small for most people.

Handmade by monks in Mount Athos, this waxed thread knitted cross with a center bead is long enough to be worn as a necklace or hung from a car rearview mirror.

This cross makes the perfect small gift for multiple occasions and is suitable for women, men and young adults!

Choose between two color and two cord sizes.

The dimensions of the cross and rope may slightly vary as this is a handmade product. The bead color varies. No two items are exactly identical.

Cherished Cross

I received my 2 knitted Crosses today. One for my sister-in law and one for me. The size of this little knitted cross is small,lightweight on a comfortable black cord. Although small in size it is to be "cherished" for I understand prayers were being said while crafting the Blessed cross .
I am wearing this item now as I submit this review with great joy and humbled by the
Craftmenship ,patience and love that went into this delicate, precious icon of our Lord's passion. Thank you! Rita R.
