The Story Behind This Icon:

This unique icon, "Deisis” (Supplication), depicts St. Paisios and St. John the Russian on the two far ends along with the Virgin Mary and St. John the Theologian, all praying to Christ in Majesty. When praying to the Virgin Mary or to a Saint, we pray for their intercession, asking them to take our prayer to God Himself; We pray to the Saints, so they can pray for us. This icon of Deisis is reproduced, with permission, from the authentic icon painted by the monks of the Cell of St. John the Theologian, Holy Monastery of Koutloumousiou in Mount Athos, Greece. Second to none.

This was my second icon, the colors are vibrant and are complemented well with the gold leaf. I chose the 7.9 by 11 and the recessed style is a subtle touch but adds great depth to the icon.

Exceptionally beautiful. I ordered the 7.9 x 11. It has a recessed edge which adds subtle depth and creates a soft framing of the image. The colors are rich and sharp. The gold leaf is brilliant. Absolutely Gorgeous!!!

I really enjoyed this icon and gave it as a present for a baptism (I was the godmother) - the picture does not do this icon justice as in person it was much more beautiful. In addition, the box and packaging that it came in were outstanding and I would highly recommend, especially if you are giving as a present because I did not need to buy a box for it. I highly recommend this icon - the quality is great and I will definitely be buying more icons from this company!
