This is a replica of Saint Andrei Rublev's masterpiece, Holy Trinity. The original is the most famous of all Russian icons and is regarded as one of the highest achievements of Russian art and spirituality. This icon depicts the three angels who visited Abraham and is correctly interpreted as a depiction of the Holy Trinity. The three angels sit at the table, the angels in the center (Christ) and right (Holy Spirit) inclining their heads towards the angel on the left, signifying the Son and the Holy Spirit deferring to the Father, whose hand also blesses the cup in the center, serving as a reminder of the Holy Eucharist.

The angels all sit at the table equally, in silent communion, a statement of the equality of each member of the Trinity and their simultaneous oneness. In the background of the icon are three references from the story of the Hospitality of Abraham in the Book of Genesis: Abraham's house, the Oak of Mamre (centered above the angel representing Christ, a reminder of his crucifixion) and Mount Moriah.

This icon is made of solid, natural limewood (Tilia) that has been prepared by hand using traditional methods and organic materials. The background is comprised of 22 Karat gold leaves that were meticulously applied by hand, piece by piece.

All of our icons are reproduced according to museum print standards and are authentic replicas of Holy Icons from Mount Athos and elsewhere.
